GOAL Technology Solutions (GTS), is a spin-off company of the Power Line Communications division of Grintek Telecom. They are in the midst of developing this technology in Tshwane in order for the residents to have an alternative to ADSL.
By utilising BPL technology, GTS can convert any ordinary power socket into a fast broadband connection. With this connection subscribers will be able to access the internet at very fast speeds and even make phone calls or receive television services.
The BPL service is a true alternative to the copper based approach that we have all come the know. The powerline technology will come at a far reduced rate of access and as mentioned you can get phone access as well. I would imagine that you might be able to get cable as well, once the technology is developed a little further.
