Microsoft Vista Beta Tweaks

Posted by: Jason Drohn In: technology

Microsoft has released a marginally updated beta version of their new operating system, Vista, to certain businesses, technical testers, and members of the MSDN and TechNet developer programs.  Their Intent? to provide testers with the most current version and to encourage development of drivers for the new platform.

Among the upgrades are:

  • enhancements to the Media Center interface
  • adjustments that will mean that people running the OS in standard mode will have to input admin credentrials less often

The next publicly available version will be available before the end of September.  Microsoft was hoping to have the final version on store shelves by this years holiday season, but they have pushed it back to January.

I just hope this technique by Microsoft will help bring the price of Vista down when does it comes out finished. Then again, I’m happy with my Ubuntu Linux 6.06. It rocks!

I was thinking the same thing. I have a copy of it on the computer at the office. I am not impressed though. Like you, all my other comps run Ubuntu. I love it!
