The 5 Questions Interview

Posted by: Jason Drohn In: quirky

It seems I have been chosen for a bit of an interview from Carols Vault!  There are some rules, which I will repost further down, but on with the questions..  (The other side is that I get to ping 5 more people with the same thoughts!)

5 questions:

  1. What have you learned so far from your visitors?  I have learned that visitors are more than simply users or readers, they are friends and colleagues.  I love the interaction between bloggers because it is in a sense a group of like minded individuals who share what they know with each other.  And in sharing the information, it expands other people’s thoughts as well.
  2. If someone would offer to pay a course (or more) for you, what that course would be?  I would go to Shoemoney or Lee Dodd and ask them to teach me about online advertising and web promotion.  They are both brilliant, and it would be a pleasure to learn from them.
  3. Are you satisfied with what you’ve achieved this year, in general?  Tremendously satisfied. In this last year I have found more personal and professional achievement than I thought was possible.  Truly, a lot of it was building the foundation of my future, but things are looking good!
  4. Did blogging changed your life or your personality in any way?  I can’t even describe how blogging has affected me.  I love it.  I am an introvert by nature and blogging has given me a voice (to an audience) and has allowed me to find my own opinions.  I am better because it has taught me to express myself, both in writing and speech.
  5. If you had the opportunity to meet one person that you admire the most in the world, who that person would be?  Unfortunately, I can’t name just one.  I can split them up into genres though!
    • JRR Tolkien - The Lord of the Rings
    • Dan Brown - Angels and Demons, The Davinci Code
    • Warren Buffet - Investor
    • Peter Drucker - Business Author
    • RA Salvatore - The Icewind Dale Trilogy, etc.

If you notice, the fifth question has four authors and one investor (the most influential of all time..).  Out of those authors, three wrote fantasy books.  Not what you might expect, but I have an infatuation for the imagination of other people.  I love trying to figure out how someone is thinking!

So hear are the rules:

  1. You will be asked 5 questions and if you choose to participate and answer, then you will have to pass it on to 5 other people, although everyone is free to participate.
  2. The questions you are passing on can be any questions you like but you can’t change question number 5.
  3. If, you don’t like a question you are being asked (except no.5) or you can’t answer a question, you are then free to change that question with your own.

And for the five people I would like to know more about: Daniel, JHay, Garry, Kyle, Thilak, and Ryan.  Oh wait, and Carol :0)  She didn’t answer her own questions!  Ok, so there are more than 5 people.

Wow, thats something awesome that I didn’t know about you Jason.

I too am a huge fan of fantasy books. I many of the Drizzt books, and am a regular on RA Salvatore’s message boards (or at least I was back when I had more time). Right now I’m actually on book 2 of the War of the Spider Queen series.

Anyway, if you liked those books, I certainly recommend the following in order of priority:

1. George RR Martin: A Song of Ice and Fire Series - Greatest series ever written (and I say that prior to its completion)

2. R. Scott Bakker: Prince of Nothing Series

3. Steven Erickson: Malazan Book of the Fallen Series

I knowy our busy, but if you have time, check those out.

That is awesome Kyle! I bought the first three books of that series, The War of the Spider Queen Series, and am just finishing up the Terry Brooks trilogy, The Sword of Shannara. I will definitely check out your recommendations though!

That is the beauty of being in a book club. I wait for half off the entire order and free shipping :0)

I agree Carol. Some of the most interesting people we will ever meet, we already know!
