IdeaGrids.com

by Jason Drohn

I want to take a minute and introduce you to IdeaGrids.com. IdeaGrids is a project that I have been working on since before Thanksgiving.

And the major announcement:

I am opening IdeaGrids.com up to the public!

And everyone who registered at $99 a month has already been refunded.

Here is a summary of what I have going on over there:

Originally, Ideagrids was designed to be subscription only. The basis is this: I give you ideas that if built out, are marketable, business ventures.

In some cases, they are just ideas. Places I have noticed an inconsistency in the current offerings.

In other cases, they are full blown case studies or business plans. Plans that I have sold for a couple thousand dollars.

I want to stress something though.. If you are looking for a get rich quick idea, scheme, or promotion – don’t visit the site. You will be disappointed.

I built the site to be a place for entrepreneurs to build ideas. Anyone in the business knows great ideas are often products of a round table discussion.

The Parameters of IdeaGrids

There are a couple things that I do need to keep the site going:

  • Communication – Some of these ideas will be incomplete. And the best way to get great follow through is to hash out the idea through the comments.
  • If a business idea is going to be implemented, let me know and I will take it down if you want. Nothing is worse than two people competing for the same goal when they should be working on it together.
  • Community Support – A great number of designers, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and developers read both sites. I hope that we can create some teams and empower some ideas.

Why am I giving ideas away?

Because I can. I will honestly have brainstorming sessions that produce 5 great ideas. I don’t have time or resources to implement all of them. So rather than me horde them to myself, I want to let other people run with them.

I would gladly help out any development in any way necessary. But the true joy for me is watching other people succeed. Seeing other entrepreneurs and professionals reach their goals.

And why do I think I can do this?

A couple months ago I wrote about being a serial entrepreneur. In it, I told of submitting 8 business plans to one competition. That was a true story.

Well, I just got the results, and it appears that 3 of them made it to the final round. As well as two other ones that I contributed quite a bit of effort on. That is 3(+2) in the finals out of several hundred. Top prize is $7,500.

And my previous entry talked about “lowering the barriers of entry for an entrepreneur.”

That is precisely what ideagrids.com is all about.

I am giving you the ideas. I am establishing a community that will help you in any way necessary. All you have to do is supply the drive.

This is great, Jason! I’m looking forward to seeing some interesting ideas on IdeaGrids.

Sometimes the best opportunities come from *combining* multiple ideas, so I find the concept of IdeaGrid really interesting!

Thanks Nitin! You are absolutely right. And I find that through conversation you can really hammer out great services or sites or products.

Thats what I am hoping to get going over there – a strong group of people who care about starting businesses!
