One of the biggest problems I have is not being able to shut my brain off. Well, some might consider it a problem, others might consider it a blessing. However you see it though, the brain is a muscle just like any other, and needs down time. Which is why I play video games… :0)
Here is a list of 15 Ways to Keep Your Brain In Shape, found over at ririanproject.com.
- Meditate for 20-30 minutes a day (if you have never done this – do it. It works.)
- Take a jog (sparatic running sessions aren’t quite for me..)
- Mix up your workout routine.
- Read a book.
- Drink a cup of coffee.
- Engage in a debate or lively conversation.
- Play video games.
- Subscribe to an enlightening RSS Feed or Newsletter.
- Eat Curry (?)
- Play pool.
- Learn an instrument.
- Eat low fat dried fruits such as dates.
- Play golf (Should correct my slice first!)
- Do Yoga.
- Build a miniature model.
Truthfully, there are countless ways to relax your brain or expand your horizons. All of them typically take you outside your comfort zone though. The thing is, when you experience something new and interesting, it shapes your thinking a bit differently, so your world view is broader.
It shouldn’t be an coincidence then that entrepreneurs with a broad view tend to change the world a bit faster..

….. why don’t they just say to become a monk? Many of them have to do with Buddhist practices.
LOL. You are exactly right. Maybe the author has a background in Buddhism. I practice a number of these things regularly and they work for me.
Come to think of it, I have always been interested in Buddhism. Maybe there is an underlying connection :0)
