Introverts vs. Extroverts

This might sound trivial – but what better way can I celebrate the one year anniversary of JDsBlog.com than by posting a small tidbit on introverts and extroverts!

The reason I wanted to get into this topic a bit is because in order to be successful in business, a startup, a new company, or your personal life – you have to understand the other person or people around you. The better you understand their intracacies, the better you can cater to them.

No, I am not talking about kissing their ass, but if you know that your boss is an introvert give him some breathing room the next time you are in a meeting. If he/she is an extrovert – hit him with all the questions you can think of!

In fact, a little under one fourth of the population is introverted and I fall squarely in the middle of that segment. The rest have all found their way to World of Warcraft and frequent the Barnes and Nobles and Borders of the world. You can find extroverts everywhere else!

Here is a short snippet of some of the difference between the two different personality types. I found it over on NewReflectionsCounseling.com:

Introverts vs. Extroverts

Keep some of these things in mind the next time you are talking to someone, or you want to impress them. Chances are if you seemingly understand their likes and dislikes, you will be better understood yourself.

I didn’t realize I was in such a minority. Many people who only know me causaully or at work find it hard to believe I am an introvert because they have the false idea that all introverts are quiet and shy. I am neither of those! I do wear out around people though, and need regular alone time to regenerate. I have learned how to plan out my days to schedule these times. It helps if others realize that some of us gain energy and focus by taking a time out.

Hi Brandy! You have it exactly right. Whenever I put on a big presentation or have to attend day long networking events, I find the I remember almost nothing! It seriously takes me most of the evening to digest all the information I just took in and get back to normal.

See, an extrovert basks in the moment and takes it all in right there. And after the event or whatever is done, they head to the bar for more!!

    Thanks Kyle!

Yours is either just past or coming up. I can’t remember who started first :0)

In either case, Happy Anniversary to you!
