What motivates you?

by Jason Drohn

Success, power, money, faith?  What motivates you?  What is it that you truly enjoy doing?

In the four years I have been in business, I have turned down quite a few job offers.  I have pissed off some clients.  And I have went against the odds and built a few really great businesses.  Most of the time, it is fun.  But sometimes…  Sometimes people get the best of you.

Fridays, I usually block off an hour or two of time for goal planning and reflecting.  It’s usually the most productive part of the week because I can look back and see what me and my team(s) are doing and then look ahead and see where I want to go in the months/years to come.  And that is what truly motivates me.

It’s not about making money directly.  It’s about helping people out.  Whether that be a client or a friend – I want to see everyone be successful.  I want to see everyone I come in contact with be something that they might have only dreamed about.

And that – my friends – is what motivates me.

Great Post. I certainly agree with the whole “helping people out” idea. If more people cared about that as even a Top 5 motivator, I think the world would be a much better place.

For me, it’s pretty much just happiness. Like you I’ve turned down lots of jobs because I knew they would not be what I wanted and taken lower paying gigs just because it fits my outlook better.

Great idea , helping people , to me it’s money , I must admit . But the amount of money that helps me pay my debts , then i can think of making others happy , cause if you don’t have it you can’t give it , don’t you agree?
